Antugnac is
well known for its Blanquette,a sparkling wine which is said to pre-date
Champagne. A quiet working village surrounded by vineyards and boasting
beautiful views and lovely walks. We are 5 mins from Esparaza, famous
for its dinosaur and hat museums and Sunday market. The larger towns
of Quillan and Limoux with shops, restaurants and weekly markets are
a short drive away.
Water sports
including canoeing,kayaking and white water rafting can be found in
the area. It is possible to swim in the clear waters in some parts of
the river Aude as well as in the beautiful lake at Arques or if you
prefer the thermal pools at Rennes les Bains or Alet les Bains with
their famous healing properties.
There is pony-treking
on the local horses of the Camargue or cycling through the Pyrenees.
We are 1 ½ hours from The Med with its long golden beaches, where
the world windsurfing championships are held.
Winter sports
abound!!! We are 1 hour from the nearest ski slopes where you can not
only ski but toboggan,snowboard or even go on dog sleighs!
Of course there
is also the rich history of the area known as the Cathare country where
you will find numerous ruined castles perched on rock promontories,historical
sites and museums.Also the chance to investigate the intriguing stories
of the search for the Holy Grail.
