Antugnac
is well known for its Blanquette,a sparkling wine which is said to
pre-date Champagne. A quiet working village surrounded by vineyards
and boasting beautiful views and lovely walks. We are 5 mins from
Esperaza, famous for its dinosaur and hat museums and Sunday market.
The larger towns of Quillan and Limoux with shops, restaurants and
weekly markets are a short drive away.
Water sports
including canoeing,kayaking and white water rafting can be found
in the area. It is possible to swim in the clear waters in some
parts of the river Aude as well as in the beautiful lake at Arques
or if you prefer the thermal pools at Rennes les Bains or Alet les
Bains with their famous healing properties. Limoux
hosts the famous carnival from January to March.
In March/April
each year a village in the Aude region is chosen to host the Toques & Clochers.
This is a huge wine festival where 10s of 1000s of people descend
on the village for a weekend of wine tasting and fun. If you are

2012 our village, Antugnac has been chosen to host the event so don't
miss out on a fabulous weekend!
There is pony-treking
on the local horses of the Camargue or cycling through the Pyrenees.
We are 1 ½ hours from The Med with its long golden beaches, where
the world windsurfing championships are held.
Winter sports
abound!!! We are 1 hour from the nearest ski slopes where you can not
only ski but toboggan,snowboard or even go on dog sleighs!
Of course there
is also the rich history of the area known as the Cathare country
where you will find numerous ruined castles perched on rock promontories,historical
sites and museums. Also the chance to investigate the intriguing
stories of the search for the Holy Grail or walk the nearby villages
mentioned in the Sepulchre, the follow up to the Labyrinth No.1 best
seller by Kate Mosse.
